Giovanni Volpicelli, MD, FCCP, was born in Catania, Italy in 1962. He is staff
Emergency Physician since 1998, actually working at the Emergency Department of San Luigi Gonzaga University Hospital, Torino, Italy.
He is expert in emergency ultrasound. He was the Chair of the Scientific
Committee of the 1st International Consensus Conference on Lung Ultrasound and he is Member of the Scientific Committee of the 2nd International Consensus onference on Ultrasound in Trauma. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Critical Ultrasound Journal (Springer), Academic Editor of Medicine (Lippincott) and Associate Editor of The Open Emergency Medicine Journal (Bentham), member of the Editorial Board and Reviewer of many international journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Chest, Intensive Care Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Critical Care, Anesthesiology, American
Journal of Emergency Medicine, and others. He actively cooperates as a Scientific Reviewer with MORE (McMaster Online Rating of Evidence) at McMaster
University, Health Information Research Unit, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He is
Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). He is also Member
of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and of the World
Interactive Network Focused on Critical Ultrasound (WINFOCUS). He is Director
of the WINFOCUS Lung Ultrasound Group and actively coordinates the
international program of education on lung ultrasound. He has authored some
